Assistive Technologist (1302)
Are you passionate about using assistive technology to remove barriers to learning, communication and independence?
We're looking for an Assistive Technologist to join Ambitious College at an exciting time of growth. This is a fantastic opportunity to shape how assistive technology is used across the College and make a real difference to the educational experiences and future independence of our young people.
Predominantly based at our West London Campus in Isleworth, you'll work closely with colleagues, families and our established Assistive Technologist at our North London Campus to ensure learners have access to the technology, communication tools and approaches that best meet their individual needs.
What you'll be doing
As our Assistive Technologist, you'll be the specialist point of contact for assistive technology at your location, combining hands-on work with learners with coaching, training and strategic development.
You will:
- Work directly with learners to identify their individual assistive technology and communication needs, establishing clear starting points and appropriate support plans.
- Assess, recommend and support the use of a range of assistive technologies, from low-tech solutions through to more advanced technology and augmentative communication systems.
- Help create inclusive, communication-rich learning environments that enable learners to participate as fully and independently as possible.
- Work collaboratively with teaching teams, Speech and Language Therapists and other professionals to ensure technology is embedded effectively into learners' education and support.
- Coach and develop colleagues so they have the confidence and skills to use assistive technology effectively in everyday learning environments.
- Provide training and guidance to colleagues and families around augmentative communication, literacy, reading and writing support.
About you
We're looking for someone who understands how technology can be used creatively and practically to improve communication, learning and independence.
You'll be someone who enjoys working collaboratively and can build strong relationships with learners, families and multidisciplinary teams. You'll also be confident sharing your expertise, coaching colleagues and translating specialist knowledge into practical approaches that can be used consistently across different environments.
In return, we offer a wide range of benefits including a commitment to CPD (Continued Professional Development), excellent career opportunities, professional support and more.
